Solstice Sangria was born here with us, out of our first and favorite cob mare Glenhaven Welsh Margarita. She was a delightful little red filly, very loving and friendly. She quickly became the farm “character”, an official greeter of people and new equines, always up to babysitting, and of course, our favorite. She was well started as a three-year-old and became English Pleasure Champion at her very first Welsh show in classes of six.

As a four year old she was shown lightly in introductory dressage with most of her scores in the 70s, and topped by a 76% which got her a year-end award. Her first time in Training Level Test One she scored a 74.09%.

She was also well schooled in trail obstacles and Western. She has taken First Place in two very large open trail classes with stock breeds, one at age 3 and again at age 4. She can open gates, do pole work (side-pass and back-throughs).

In 2005, while pregnant she got second place in her first ever Gold Show Ridden Cob class of many entries. She has won three Southern Welsh Association year end awards for Western Pleasure Adult, then for English Pleasure Adult and High Score Welsh exhibitor at the Canterbury Schooling Dressage Series.

In 2006, she became a mom to a very beautiful half Arabian filly. Sangy has a very people-loving and trusting character. You could not ask for a better best friend.

In 2007, after more than a year off for maternity leave Sangy was gradually returned to work and in the fall of 2007 has resumed her dressage shows. Her consistent scores of high 60s for training level are telling us that she has a talent as an dressage mount and we're looking forward to her future in this endeavor.
